Homeless man booked for possessing meth in Westgate Inn parking lot

27-year-old Michael Alexander was charged with meth possession, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and conditions of release violation after police found pieces of a “green, leafy substance” in his lap while sitting in the parking lot of Westgate Inn.

On May 14, CPD Officer Brittney Honeycutt voluntarily made contact with Michael Alexander in the passenger side of a Ford sedan. The car was found in the parking lot of the Westgate Inn. Following a conversation with Alexander, the officers engaged a probable cause search of the vehicle.

According to the affidavit, a syringe was discovered on Alexander’s person. Found inside of the vehicle was an apple bag containing a “crystalline substance” in the center console. Upon further investigation, Alexander’s backpack revealed to have a mass of cut straws, a burnt spoon, a pipe, and a vial including the aforementioned leafy substance. Following Officer Honeycutt’s field test, the crystalline substance came back positive for methamphetamine.

Michael Alexander was arrested and charged with possession of meth, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and violation of conditions of release. His bond was set at $32,500.
