Clarksville man steals friend’s ’94 Camaro while he is in jail

34-year-old Matthew Bodine was charged with theft of a motor vehicle when he took his friend’s 1994 Camaro from his property while he was incarcerated in the Montgomery County Jail.

On August 8th, Officer Smith made the scene at 422 High Point Road and spoke to Jarvis Shelton, who advised police that Matthew Bodine had stolen his 1994 red Camaro while he was in jail. David Shelton, Mr. Shelton’s father, stated that Matthew walked into 422 High Point Road and then left with the vehicle.

David also advised police that Matthew was considered a friend of the family and believed at the time that he had received permission to borrow the vehicle. Once Jarvis had returned to his home and noticed that his vehicle was missing he contacted 911. Jarvis also reported that his phone and some of his clothing were in the vehicle when it was stolen. Officers estimated the vehicle to be worth approximately $1,000 and a warrant was secured.

Matthew Bodine was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $5,000.
