Clarksville man pulled over on third DUI charge with teenager in the car

Kevin Bailey (MCSO)

58-year-old Kevin Bailey was charged with driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, violation of traffic light law, driving on a suspended license, and violation of the implied consent law after he admitted to officers he drank a pint before driving with a 15-year-old passenger in the front seat.

On July 23rd, Officer Kelly Potter was driving east on Dover Road near the intersection of Dotsonville Road when a van passed going the opposite direction with only the running lights on. The officer performed a traffic stop at 925 Dover Road at Allen’s Gun Shop. When Officer Potter spoke with Kevin Bailey, his eyes were bloodshot and he was slurring his words. There was a 15-year-old present in the passenger seat. When the officer asked if the driver had anything to drink, Bailey admitted “Yes, a pint.”

Officer Potter asked Bailey to exit the car and performed a field sobriety test. During the eye test, his eyes did not follow the object smoothly and were jerking. During the walk and turn test, he missed numerous heel to toes, couldn’t walk in a straight line, and stumbled over his toes. While administering the one-leg stand test he placed his foot down several times, double-counted, and couldn’t complete the task. Officer Potter read the implied consent form at the scene, but Bailey refused to give blood. A search warrant was obtained to take a blood sample, and blood was taken at the Sango ER. Officer Potter discovered that Baker was also driving on a revoked license and this will be his third DUI.

Kevin Bailey was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, violation of traffic light law, driving on a suspended license, and violation of the implied consent law. His bond was set at $45,000.
