Cadillac vs Chevy Cobalt street race: Driver charged with resisting arrest

30-year-old Sergio Salcedo was charged with reckless driving and resisting arrest when he was pulled over for racing another vehicle and tried to pull away from officers when they struggled to detain him.

On August 21st, Officer Brendan Davis initiated a traffic stop at 804 North 2nd Street after seeing two vehicles racing at a high rate of speed driving toward Kraft Street. A red Cadillac sedan was reportedly overtaking a black Chevy Cobalt in the center turn lane near the intersection of Marion Street. Officer Davis stopped the Cobalt and the driver of the Cadillac, Sergio Salcero, was also pulled over.

When Sergio approached the officers, they asked him to step in front of the vehicle and give them his driver’s license to which he refused. When officers attempted to detain Sergio, he pulled away from them and tucked his arms into his chest to avoid being placed in cuffs. Officer Davis stated that he was able to place Sergio into custody after a brief struggle.

Sergio Salcedo was arrested and charged with reckless driving and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $7,500.
