Woman assaults man with hammer during argument

35-year-old Katherine Diane Rogers is charged with aggravated domestic assault after she hit the victim with a hammer during an argument over him going to get her food.

Officer Garza responded to a domestic in progress on January 26, 2020, on Andrew Drive. He made contact with the defendant, Katherine Rogers upon arrival. She stated that she and the victim were having a disagreement through text messaging and she locked herself in a room to get away from him. Katherine went on to say that the victim wanted a credit card and forced his way into the room to obtain it. She said when he made it through the doorway she was wielding a hammer when he charged at her and she struck his arm with very little force. Katherine told the officer that after being struck the victim left and called the police. The officer then spoke with the victim who said that he and Katherine were in an argument over text which led him to attempt to get the credit card to get Katherine some food; which is what she was upset about, to begin with.

The victim said that he did force open the door but only to get the card and that was when Katherine angrily swung the hammer and struck him in the arm. The victim had visible injuries to corroborate the assault and pictures were taken then submitted to evidence. After Officer Garza gained permission from Katherine he was able to read through the text messages and found that the victim seemed to want to find a solution and was messaging in a very catering tone. Katherin, however, seemed to be the one who was upset throughout the conversation, according to the affidavit. Due to the allegation of assault, admission of the assault, and the visible injuries to the victim Katherine was placed into custody and transported to booking.

Katherine Rogers was charged with for aggravated domestic assault and her bond was set at $5,000.00.
