Man admits to snorting adderall before driving thru DUI checkpoint

26-year-old Daniel Reiss was charged with DUI, simple possession, and tampering with evidence after he drove through a checkpoint on Highway 41A.

On 1/25/20, Daniel Thomas Reiss drove through a checkpoint on Highway 41A near Edmonson Road. When THP Trooper Kerry Naquin made contact they noted that Daniel smelled heavily of marijuana. Officers went on to say that Daniel’s pupils were also dilated and Daniel said that he had smoked the day before but that he snorted Adderall prior to driving through the checkpoint.

Daniel consented to a standard field sobriety test and he performed poorly exhibiting signs of impairment. Daniel was read Tennessee’s Implied Consent Law and refused a blood test. Police found an un-prescribed bottle with 3 Adderall capsules inside located in Daniel’s vehicle. Daniel was taken into custody and transported to booking. Once at the jail, Reiss refused the blood draw, and was additionally charged with tampering with evidence.

Daniel Reiss was charged with DUI, simple possession, and tampering with evidence and his bond was set at $6500.00.
