Man pulled over for brake light gets vehicle and home searched after “public odor examination”

36-year-old Joshua Anderson was charged with possession of marijuana for resale, possession of oxycodone, felon possessing a firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license when an inoperable brake light escalated to a search of his home and vehicle.

On May 5th, Clarksville Police Department Agent Martin Spears stopped Joshua Anderson in a black Suzuki XL7 for a inoperable brake light. According to the affidavit, there was a passenger Brooklyn Hudson and Anderson admitted his license was suspended. Officer Casey Stanton arrived on scene to conduct a “public odor examination.”

Police service dog Vader detected narcotics and a search of the vehicle produced three boxes containing five bags of marijuana weighing around 14 grams and fourteen pills determined to be oxycodone hydrochloride weighing 5 milligrams. A search was also warranted of the pair’s home at 1260 Blossom Road which yielded “numerous bags of suspected” cannabis, two handguns, digital scale, “marijuana packaging”, food saver, and vacuum seal bags.

Joshua Anderson was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for resale, possession of oxycodone, felon possessing a firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license. His bond was set at $95,000.
