Man causes girlfriend to blackout during dispute over a female caller on his phone

53-year-old Jeffrey Barnett was charged with aggravated domestic assault after he strangled his girlfriend and knocked her down during an argument about him being on the phone with another woman.

On November 7th, Clarksville Police Officer Castillo arrived at the residence of Jeffrey Barnett, located at 213 Kirby Drive, in response to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, Lisa Roman advised she was at the Oak Haven Motel with her boyfriend, Jeffrey Barnett, when they got into an argument about him talking to another woman on the phone.

She stated Jeffrey strangled her and knocked her to the floor, kicking her legs and poking her arms while she was down. She also reported she lost consciousness when she was knocked to the ground. Barnett refuted her statements, claiming nothing physical happened and that there was only a disagreement about him being on the phone.

Jeffrey Barnett was arrested and charged with assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
