Man caught with stolen truck by family member on Highway 12

36-year-old Johnathan Hunter was charged with auto theft after the stolen truck he was driving on Highway 12 was spotted by a family member of the victim.

On October 16th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Brown responded to a call off Highway 12 and Excell Road in regards to a stolen vehicle. Dispatch advised the vehicle was stolen and belonged to a family member of the person calling in. After running the tags through in NCIC and confirming it was stolen, the deputy conducted a traffic stop, pulling the vehicle over into a driveway on Excell Road.

Deputy Brown proceeded to call all 3 individuals out of the vehicle while waiting for backup units to arrive. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Johnathan Hunter. According to the affidavit, Hunter advised that he was currently on probation and all the parties in the vehicle were detained.

Johnathan Luke Hunter was arrested and charged with auto theft. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
