Driver caught with marijuana during traffic stop for littering

30-year-old Shatari Weatherstrand was charged with possession of marijuana and unlawful drug paraphernalia after he was pulled over for littering and a deputy found approximately 53 grams of marijuana in his vehicle.

On November 28th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Dale BeCraft initiated a traffic stop on a 2008 Chevy Impala at the intersection of Paradise Hill Road and Golf View Place for littering. The deputy made contact with Shatari Weatherstrand, who was driving the vehicle, and noticed the odor of marijuana. He asked Shatari to exit the vehicle and searched his person.

During the pat-down, a digital scale was located with marijuana residue on it. The deputy then searched the Chevy Impala and located about 49 grams of marijuana under the driver’s seat. The backseat contained another four grams of marijuana and pipes. After being read his Miranda rights, Shatari claimed ownership of the pipes and some of the marijuana.

Shatari Weatherstrand was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released on a $7,500 bond.
