32-year-old Shantel Mitchell is charged with domestic assault after she and her ex-boyfriend, Deantrey Kelly, got into an argument over relationship issues that escalated to a physical altercation.
Officers responded to a domestic call on Needmore Road. When they arrived they made contact with Shantel Mitchell who told officers she and her ex-boyfriend, Deantrey Kelly, were involved in an argument over relationship issues. She stated that the argument turned physical when Deantrey scratched her arm but she went on to say that he had left the residence prior to police arrival.
Officers asked if they could search the residence and Shantel consented. Officers found Deantrey hiding in a closet and detained. After speaking with both parties it was discovered that Deantrey had grabbed Shantel’s wallet and she hit him in the back of the head. After being struck, Deantrey grabbed Shantel and she bit his hand leaving an abrasion. Deantrey stated that he put Shantel on the ground and she bit his lip. Shantel was then taken into custody and transported to booking. Shantel Mitchell was charged with domestic assault and her bond was set at $1000.00.
