Clarksville Department of Electricity to resume disconnections June 1

CLARKSVILLE — CDE General Manager Brian Taylor announced disconnections will start again June 1, 2020. CDE had suspended service cut-offs during the initial phase of COVID-19 closures. CDE has developed two options for customers needing assistance in paying their electric bills.

Customers having trouble paying have new options for preventing disconnections. CDE is implementing payment arrangements that can be spread out over a number of months. Contact a customer service representative at 931-648-8151 for more details on setting up arrangements.

Customers affected by COVID-19 can also contact the United Way to access assistance by a new fund created through a partnership between the United Way, TVA and CDE called Community Cares. Contact the United Way of Clarksville at 931-647-4291 for more information.

Taylor also said CDE will follow the Tennessee Pledge guidelines for reopening. Foot traffic in the lobby will be monitored and reduced based on social distancing guidelines. Customers are encouraged to continue using drive-thru, mail-in, kiosk and online options to make payments instead of coming to the office.

“Our employees remain dedicated to ensure that our customers have the essential services that you need and continue to be here for you, ” said Taylor.
