Man eats unknown object; charged with evidence tampering

29-year-old Delvon Thompson was charged with driving on suspended 3rd offense, no proof of insurance, open container, and tampering with evidence.

On January 5th, officers initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Kelsey Drive and Woodtrace Drive on a navy blue Pontiac. Delvon Thompson was identified as the driver and was known to have a suspended license, which was the reason for the traffic stop. Upon contact, Delvon stated he did not have a driver’s license. A check was run through NCIC and it revealed that Delvon’s license had been suspended due to failure to pay costs and fines dating back to 2017. He was also unable to provide proof of insurance.

Officer Pacheco stated an odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Officer Aragon also observed an open alcohol container located in the passenger seat. Officers witnessed Delvon reach under his right leg to grab an unknown object, put it in his mouth, and then reach back under his right leg. A search of the vehicle was initiated due to probable cause and the search revealed a ripped corner of a clear baggie under the driver seat where Delvon had been sitting. Delvon was then arrested and charged with driving on suspended 3rd offense, no proof of insurance, open container, and tampering with evidence. His bond was set at $10,000.00.
