CLARKSVILLE, TENN. — The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announced today the Clarksville Downtown Market is returning to its permanent location downtown at 1 Public Square beginning June 6, 2020 through September 26, 2020.

The open-air market temporarily moved to McGregor Park for its first few weeks of the 2020 season.

“McGregor Park North Extension was a wonderful temporary location for us,” said Clarksville Downtown Market Manager Trey Stroud. “But we are just as eager to return to normal as the rest of the city, and seeing the Clarksville Downtown Market back in Public Square is a great step toward that.”

Significant changes are in store for patrons shopping at the market this weekend. Entrance to the market will only be possible at the corner of Franklin Street and Public Square. However, there will be multiple exit points. Crowd size will be limited to only 250 people in the market at a time. Vendors will be wearing cloth masks. Shoppers are strongly encouraged to also wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines in place. The market will also operate on a shorter schedule, running from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Bonita Lacey of B’s Cheesecakes in the Mary’s Music building at College Street and Riverside Drive says she is happy the market is moving back to the regular location just up the hill from her shop.

While the award-winning market limited which vendors could participate at the temporary location on Riverside, all regular vendors, including food trucks, will be in attendance starting this weekend.

“We hope to see tremendous support for these businesses at the market moving forward,” Stroud said.
