Woman threatens to shoot neighbor, kicks husband while trying to get into his gun safe

26-year-old Madison Martin was charged with domestic assault after police say she threatened to kill her neighbor and then tried to steal guns from her husband’s safe.

On December 7th, Clarksville Police Officer Clint Sutton responded to a domestic dispute at 1160 Belvoir Lane. Upon arrival, contact was made with Madison Martin who stated that she was arguing with her husband, Nicholas Hice. She also stated that she has been harassed by their next door neighbors, and she and Nicholas were in an argument because she thought he was not doing anything about the neighbor harassing them. According to the report, Martin sent a text message to Hice saying that she was going to shoot the neighbor, and she went to the closet where Hice keeps his firearms locked up and was “staring at the safe” when Hice came in and pushed her up against a wall.

She also stated that she hit her head on the wall and left a knot on the back of her head. Officer Sutton spoke with Hice who showed the text messages that said Martin was going to shoot the neighbor, and he said he rushed home and heard rumbling upstairs in the closet where he locked his guns up. Hice then stated that he went upstairs and saw Martin prying on his pistol safe with a knife and saw that his rifle lockbox had already been opened with one of the latches on it being broken.

Officer Sutton looked upstairs and saw the rifle case had a broken latch and saw a safe with pry marks on it, and a knife next to the safe. Hice stated when he saw Martin trying to open the safe, he tried to intervene and she pushed herself back at the wall and hit her head. He also stated she started to kick at his legs and groin. When Martin was asked if she was prying at the safe, she was trying to open the safe and rifle case, but it was “several minutes” before Hice came home. Officer Sutton determined Martin to be the primary aggressor and was taken into custody.

Madison Martin was arrested and charged with domestic assault. She has since been released on a $250 bond.
