Three Austin Peay women’s basketball athletes suspended after player shoplifts at Walmart

Austin Peay women’s basketball players Kasey Kidwell, Ella Sawyer, and Tahanee Bennell were suspended indefinitely after Kasey was charged with shoplifting for taking nearly $60 in merchandise from Walmart.

On November 17th, Scoop: Clarksville received a tip from a former Scoop writer that Kasey Kidwell was arrested the prior evening. According to the report, Kasey was charged with shoplifting after she incorrectly scanned ten items for products of a lesser price at Walmart, located on 3050 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard. Kasey then reportedly walked past all points of sale, taking merchandise valued at $59.29.

Kidwell, Ella Sawyer, and Tahanee Bennell were announced to have been suspended from the team indefinitely by Gerald Harrison, APSU Director of Athletics. Austin Peay’s student paper, The All State, reported the three were each suspended “due to a violation of team and athletics department policy.
