Teen lovers spat about cheating, ends with a knife wound and aggravated assault charge

18-year-old William Tyler Rye IV was charged with aggravated assault when an argument with his girlfriend escalated to a suicide threat. Rye removed a knife from her but recklessly positioned it and she was cut while they were fighting over it.

On March 20th, Deputy Prichard responded with emergency personnel to 3001 Flint Ridge Road. According to the affidavit, Naomi Southers told the deputy that she and her boyfriend William Tyler Rye IV were having a confrontation about her suspected infidelity.

Ms. Southers admitted that in emotion she had picked up a knife and stated that she was going to harm herself. Rye removed the knife from her and when she attempted to reclaim it she was cut below her elbow. Authorities determined Rye to be reckless with the position of the knife and he was taken into custody. The pair has a history of physical conflict.

William Rye was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $1,000.
