27-year-old Amber Janell Corbin was charged with driving under the influence and violation of implied consent after an officer noticed she appeared to be falling asleep during a traffic stop, then failed her field sobriety test.

On November 2nd, Clarksville Police Officer Gary Mefford observed a Kia Optima fail to maintain its lane while traveling 55 mph in a posted 40-mph zone. A traffic stop was then initiated at 924 Providence Blvd. After approaching the vehicle and making contact with the driver, Amber Cobrin, Officer Mefford advised her of the reasoning for the stop.

While speaking with Corbin, Officer Mefford noticed she had slurred speech and appeared to be falling asleep. When asked if she had consumed any alcohol, she replied with no. Officer Mefford then asked her if she had taken any prescription medication, at which point she admitted taking sleeping medication. When asked to perform a series of tasks for a field sobriety test, she was unable to keep her balance, then stated to the officer she was unable to do the tests. Corbin was then advised of the implied consent law and refused to give a blood sample.

Amber Janell Corbin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and violation of implied consent. She was later released on a $2,500 bond.
