Night of drinking at Electric Cowboy leads to speeding and DUI charges

28-year-old Veronica Johnson was charged with DUI, speeding, and implied consent after she admitted to drinking margaritas at Electric Cowboy during a traffic stop for speeding.

On November 15th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Ignacio Rivera stopped a white sedan going 78 mph on Highway 76 near Trough Springs Road. The deputy approached the vehicle and noted the driver, Veronica Johnson, smelled of alcohol and had red watery eyes.

According to the affidavit, Veronica stated she had just left the Electric Cowboy and was going home. She admitting to drinking three margaritas, the last one about two hours prior to driving. Veronica then showed signs of intoxication while performing standard field sobriety tests. She also refused consent to a blood or breath sample.

Veronica Johnson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, speeding, and implied consent. She was later released on a $3,500 bond.
