Man tells police he recently smoked weed in his vehicle, giving probable cause for search

34-year-old Marvin Stallworth was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a routine traffic stop turned into a probable cause search because marijuana could be smelled emanating from the vehicle.

On September 13th, Clarksville Police Officer Weaver stopped a Volvo with a faulty tag light around Cunningham Lane and Fort Campbell Boulevard. Immediately upon meeting the driver, Marvin Stallworth, officers could detect the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Stallworth told Weaver that he had smoked “weed” in the vehicle recently and there were marijuana roaches still in the car.

A search yielded a scale, a container with burnt cigarillos suspected to contain marijuana, a black backpack that held a box of sandwich bags, and jars with marijuana inside. The total weight of marijuana was found to be 14.175 grams.

Marvin Stallworth was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for resale and unlawful drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $7,500.
