Man strangles ex-girlfriend; woman brandishes knife in defense

23-year-old Cooper Wood was charged with aggravated assault and simple possession after once again strangling his ex-girlfriend.

On October 11th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Turner responded to a call on 2811 Woodlawn Road concerning a domestic in progress. Shianne Smith stated she picked up her ex-boyfriend, Cooper Wood, who contacted her after being kicked out of their house two weeks prior.

After bringing him back to her address, the two began to argue about rekindling their relationship. Cooper then began to strangle Shianne, cutting off her air supply. Once Cooper let her go, she asked him to leave. Refusing to leave, she grabbed a knife which caused Cooper to stand down. A neighbor, who came over after hearing the commotion, then began to argue with him. He continued to argue with both parties before fleeing the scene.

On October 12th, Cooper Ward was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and simple possession. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
