Man, irate over an extra month’s rent, charged after threatening to shoot wife and friend

22-year-old George Forest was charged with domestic assault after reportedly threatening to blow his wife’s brains out during a prolonged argument about him being responsible for an extra month of rent.

On November 13th, Clarksville Police Officer Trystan Matthews responded to a domestic violence call at the Independence Place apartments at 3193 Fort Campbell Boulevard. Matthews then spoke with George Forest who claims he was trying to enter apartment 331, because “he was concerned for his wife’s safety.” He stated that he became upset when he found out he would be responsible for paying an extra month of rent. His wife Brooke Forest then went to “go get the mail” and didn’t return for some time. George stated he went to go look for her. When he didn’t find her at the mailboxes, he determined she went to her friend Amber Shannahan’s apartment at Number 331.

He said he knew that there were people inside and, at first, no one answered the door or answered his phone calls. George claimed to have grown more concerned and was his reasoning for the aggressive banging on the door. He reported that Amber eventually replied, “get away or I will shoot you.” Amber reported that, upon discovery of additional rent payments, George became aggressive as he started throwing his phone, dishes and even swung his arm at her. She also claimed that he is the one that made a threat, stating he would “blow their brains out” if they did not come to the door. After observing the damage on Amber’s door, reportedly left by George, Matthews took him into custody.

George Forest was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He has since been released on a $500 bond.
