Man found with meth during traffic stop, gives police his brother’s name

29-year-old James Denapoli was charged with criminal impersonation and possession of meth and heroin after police say he gave his brother’s name, then admitted his real name, and gave consent to search his vehicle.

On December 2nd, Montgomery County Deputy J. Jackson made a traffic stop on a Chevy Silverado. The stop was made due to the operator’s suspended driver’s license. Jackson questioned the rear passenger and driver, James Denapoli, for their ID’s. James stated he didn’t have his and gave deputies the name Joseph Denapoli. NCIC pulled up a heavier set gentleman that did not look like the photo.

According to the report, he was then asked to step out of the vehicle and that is when he admitted he was not Joseph. Jackson was then granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search, Jackson found a small bag of methamphetamine, a rolled-up paper with heroin, and James’ ID. The false ID belonged to his brother Joseph.

James Denapoli was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and heroin and criminal impersonation. On December 8th, the heroin and impersonation charges were dismissed, and was found guilty on the meth charge. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail and given credit for 5 days.
