Man found guilty of meth possession after dog tips off officer with sniff and search

25-year-old Robert Anderson was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a revoked license after reportedly getting pulled over with meth and utensils used to consume meth.

On December 4th, Clarksville Police Officer Davis initiated a traffic stop at Memorial Drive near Revere Road on a vehicle that failed to stay in its own lane multiple times. Per the affidavit, He met with the driver, Robert Anderson. A computer check revealed that Robert had an active warrant out of Cheatham County and a suspended license.

Officer Mefford’s Police Service Dog, Chase, sniffed around the vehicle and gave a positive alert for the smell of narcotics inside. A search of the vehicle revealed several glass pipes, a scale, and a case containing methamphetamine.

Robert Anderson was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a revoked license. He was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail, with four days of credit, and a $760 fine.
