Man crashes on I-24; admits he smoked marijuana before he left for Nashville

38-year-old Moises Quinones was charged with simple possession of marijuana, paraphernalia, and driving under the influence when he admitted to smoking marijuana before he crashed his vehicle on I-24 near mile marker 9.

On August 28th, Clarksville Police Officer Kirill Annikov as dispatched to a call in regards to a crash on Interstate 24 at mile marker 9. When the officer arrived he made contact with the driver of the wrecked blue Toyota Corolla, Moises Quinones. Officer Kirill stated that Moises was sweating copiously, unsteady on his feet, and pacing about. Multiple motorists who stopped to assist, informed Officer Annikov that they noticed Moises spray cologne in the vehicle after the crash. The officer noted that he could smell marijuana coming from inside the car. A search was performed which produced a cigarillo in its packaging and multiple fibers of marijuana throughout the interior of the vehicle.

Officer Annikov asked Moises if he had consumed any alcohol or used any drugs in the morning prior to the crash to which he replied that he had woke up around 4:00 a.m. and smoked marijuana before driving to Nashville. Moises agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests when asked. His eyes would not converge during the Convergence Test. This was Moises’ first DUI offense.

Moises Quinones was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and driving under the influence. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $2,000 bond.
