Man charged after officer witnesses child in driver seat of car rolling down Tiny Town

30-year-old Raymond Brackett was charged with child neglect after leaving his 3-year-old child in his car to get a haircut.

On November 21st, Clarksville Police Officer Alyssa Wade witnessed a white vehicle roll to a stop in the shoulder lane on Tiny Town Road. When Officer Wade approached the vehicle, she saw a child in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, and a male running toward the car. The male identified himself as Raymond Brackett, and he told Officer Wade he was getting a haircut at Eagle Cuts Barbershop and left his child in the car.

The 3-year-old child hit the gear shift into neutral, which caused it to roll out of the parking lot and onto Tiny Town Road. EMS arrived on the scene and reported they could see no injuries on the child. Officer Wade then spoke to people inside the barbershop, who confirmed that Brackett was there, then showed her where he was seated. The view from his seat to the parking lot was obstructed, so he was unable to see his child in the vehicle at the angle he was at. Due to Brackett exposing the child to danger, he was charged with child neglect.

Raymond Brackett was arrested and charged with child neglect. He was later released on a $2,500 bond.
