Man charged after he prevents his girlfriend from answering the door

35-year-old Demarcus Smith was charged with two counts of false imprisonment when a juvenile called 911 to report a disturbance for her aunt, and he prevented his girlfriend from answering the front door by standing in front of it.

On November 1st, Clarksville Police Department Officer Kayle Billotte responded to 150 Lexington Drive after a juvenile made a 911 call for a disturbance between her aunt and Demarcus Smith. According to the officer’s report, yelling was heard from the inside of the residence. The was no answer at the door after knocking several times. Officer Billotte stated that she found a phone number for Smith and called him. The report stated that Smith told the officer that he and the victim refused to come to the door because they were arguing.

The female opened the door while Smith was in the kitchen on the phone with Officer Billotte. The victim stated that Smith found some text messages on her phone and started arguing with her. Smith and the female have a history of physical altercations according to the officer’s report. The officer’s report stated that the victim asked Smith to leave the residence since he did not live there. She stated she was scared to walk past him when he blocked the access to the front because in the past their arguments had turned physical. Smith has an order of protection against him with the female victim.

Demarcus Smith was arrested and charged with two counts of false imprisonment. He was released on a $2,000 bond.
