Man charged after being found asleep with vehicle in drive; found with 3 types of drugs

31-year-old Trevor Combs was charged with possession of methamphetamine and suboxone, and possession without a prescription after he was found asleep at the wheel with the vehicle in drive, and his car was searched with probable cause from a K9.

On November 16th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Tommy Vallejos responded to a call about a man slumped over in the driver’s seat near the intersection of River Road and Zinc Plant Road. When Deputy Vallejos arrived at the scene, he made contact with Trevor Combs. Combs was asleep in the vehicle while it was in drive, and his foot was on the brake. Deputy Vallejos woke Combs up and asked him to park and then leave the vehicle. Combs started looking around the car and had to be told numerous times to leave the vehicle.

Combs stated that he only used suboxone, but it was not recent. Combs also denied consent to having his vehicle searched, so Vallejos deployed K9 Rico for a free air sniff around the vehicle. Rico detected something at the driver’s side door, so Vallejos conducted a probable cause search. After the search, a search of Combs was conducted and Vallejos found a plastic bag in Combs’s right side cargo pocket containing “approximately 1.5 grams of a crystallized substance” which, when tested, was found to be methamphetamine. In the same bag, Vallejos found three Xanax pills, one Xanax bar, and “1 1/2” of suboxone.

Trevor Combs was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and suboxone, and possession without a prescription. He was later released on a $5,000 bond.
