26-year-old Jalen Craig was charged with domestic assault after strangling his wife to prevent her from leaving with their child, and an underage witness explained what happened to the police.
On November 6th, Clarksville Police Department Officer Michael Hickmon arrived at Independence Place Apartments located at 3193 Fort Campbell Boulevard in response to a domestic violence call. Per the report, Jalen Craig and his wife, Amani Craig, had got into an argument after he accused her of lying.
Amani claimed Jalen had become upset and starting “getting in her face and putting his finger in her face.” She stated that she pushed him off of her and then he began strangling her. She was able to break free and went to the room to get their child. Jalen grabbed her to stop her from leaving then, while on the bed, he used his forearm to apply pressure to her neck. The story was confirmed by a juvenile witness. Officer Hickmon noted there were no signs of assault on either person.
Jalen Craig was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was released on a $500 bond.
