Homeless man caught stealing pliers, dash camera from Ft. Campbell Walmart

33-year-old Dustin Herrell was charged with burglary and two counts of theft of property from a Fort Campbell Walmart after he was caught shoplifting, then fleeing the scene while throwing items that he previously pillaged during his escape.

On May 25th, Officer Smith was dispatched to the Walmart located at 1680 Ft Campbell Blvd. in response to a shoplifter. Walmart’s loss prevention agency gave a description of the thief, later identified to be Dustin Herrell. When loss prevention attempted to confront Herrell, the homeless man responded by throwing a dash camera and a pair of pliers that he had attempted to steal. After tossing the items, Herrell fled the scene of the crime on foot.

One mile later, officers confronted Herrell near the intersection of Cunningham Ln and Ft. Campbell Blvd. After matching Herrell’s description to that of loss prevention, officers transported him back to Walmart. Further investigation revealed that Herrell had previously been trespassed from the superstore.

Dustin Herrell was arrested and charged with burglary and two counts of theft of property. His total bond was set at $12,000.
