Fugitive caught with meth, scale, $873 in cash, and more after K9’s tip

34-year-old Larry Hopkins was charged with drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine with intent, and possession of marijuana after he was witnessed placing felonious amounts of meth in his car by officers.

On November 4th, Clarksville Police Officers responded to the residence of 115 Lealand Terrace in regards to a domestic assault. When they arrived, they reportedly saw Larry Hopkins put something in a Mercury Sable and walk behind the residence. Per the affidavit, he tried to flee the scene, but stopped when the officers ordered him to do so. When being investigated, it was discovered that he had outstanding warrants.

Officer Jones arrived at the scene with his police service dog, Draco. Per the affidavit, he alerted Officer Jones to the odor of a narcotic. Further inspection of the vehicle found a Crown Royal bag filled with two bags of methamphetamine, two bags of marijuana, a digital scale, and tin foil. Reportedly, on Larry’s person was a cell phone and $873 in cash. He was taken into custody and transported to the Clarksville Police Department’s Special Operations Unit. During a recorded interview, he reportedly admitted that all of the items in the bag were his.

Larry was previously arrested for possession of meth and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance after officers came into contact with him and a female while investigating a separate incident and discovered meth and a pill inside their vehicle.

Larry Hopkins was arrested and charged with drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine with intent, and possession of marijuana and was taken into custody with active warrants. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $97,000 bond.
