Felon charged; police find 70 Xanax bars, 14 Adderall pills, 5 Suboxone pills, fentanyl, meth, and marijuana

41-year-old Rayshawn Thomas was charged with multiple drug violations, paraphernalia, felon in possession of a firearm, and driving without a license after police stopped his car because the registered owner had a suspended license.

On November 19th, The 19th Judicial District Drug Task Force initiated a traffic stop of a gray Chevy Malibu on Crossland Avenue near Greenwood Avenue because the registered owner of the car, Rayshawn Thomas, had a suspended license. After approaching the vehicle, they made contact with him and a female passenger. When asked to exit the vehicle, Rayshawn reportedly admitted to them that he had a marijuana “blunt” in the vehicle.

The agents said they allowed Rayshawn to retrieve his jacket from the car, but upon grabbing the jacket, he ran. He was quickly brought to the ground and the agents note he resisted arrest by tensing his body and putting his arms under him.

Officers searched the jacket that Rayshawn dropped and reportedly found 12.3 grams of methamphetamine and 7.8 grams of a Fentanyl-methamphetamine compound. Upon search of the vehicle, it was reported that seventy 2mg Xanax bars, fourteen 30mg Adderall pills, five Suboxone pills, approximately 15 grams of marijuana, a smaller bag of meth, and numerous items of paraphernalia, including a scale and pipes, were found. Agents also found a loaded 9mm handgun in between the driver’s seat and center console. Upon a search through the Criminal Justice Portal, Rayshawn was found to be a convicted felon for schedule IV drugs and aggravated burglary.

Rayshawn Thomas was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, evading arrest, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, possession of a firearm with intent to go armed, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine with intent, possession of a schedule I substance with intent, two counts of possession of a schedule II substance with intent, possession of a schedule III substance with intent, and possession of a schedule IV substance with intent. He was later released on a $50,000 bond, and his cases have been bound over to a grand jury.
