23-year-old Larry George Steele was charged with possession of cocaine, unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, and having no driver’s license after being pulled over for following a car too closely and failing multiple sobriety tests.

On October 27th, Clarksville Police Officer Andrew Trescott conducted a traffic stop at a local discount tobacco store, located at 505 Providence Blvd, after observing a vehicle following another a little too closely. Upon making contact with the driver, later identified as Larry Steele, Officer Trescott noticed Steele appeared excited and was frequently licking his lips.

Officer Trescott also observed what appeared to be a white powdery substance on the corner of Steele’s mouth. Due to Steele’s erratic behavior, the officer asked to conduct a field sobriety test, to which he performed poorly. Steele had also denied the officer consent to search his vehicle, however, the officer had a deployed Police Search Dog Airo to do a public odor sniff. Search Dog Ario gave Officer Trescott a positive indication on the vehicle, and a probable cause search was conducted.

During the search, Officer Trescott located a glass pipe with burned “chor-boy” pieces inside as well as a white residue in the center console. In the front passenger door pocket, was a dollar bill that had pieces of white rock-like substance on it. A portion of the substance was field tested and tested positive for cocaine. Steele was later taken to the Tennova Sango ER where a blood test was drawn to provide a sample, then was medically cleared.

Larry George Steele was arrested and charged with simple possession of cocaine, unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, and no driver’s license. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $4,000 bond.
