Driver stopped for tint gets charged with possession and paraphernalia; now headed to grand jury

22-year-old Matthew Hyman was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of ecstasy after his Chevrolet Malibu was stopped at the intersection of Dover Road and Dover Crossing for speeding, and a tint violation.

On November 14th, Clarksville Police Department Officers Jacob Gadberry and Nickolas Nemeth performed a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Malibu near the intersection of Dover Road and Dover Crossing for speeding and a tint violation. They made contact with the only occupant of the vehicle, Matthew Hyman. Officers noted the smell of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Hyman gave consent for the officers to search his person, where a baggie containing suspected marijuana residue was found.

The officer’s report stated Hyman gave consent for them to search his vehicle. Officers collected a container of more than one-half gram of cocaine, a bottle of ecstasy pills weighing 19 grams, and less than one-half ounce of marijuana. They also found inositol, which is used as a “cutting agent” by dealers, as well as a set of digital scales.

Matthew Hyman was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, and drug paraphernalia. He was later released on a $5,000 bond, and his charges have been bound over to a grand jury.
