Driver found with marijuana during traffic stop for speeding

34-year-old Chad Lamothe was charged with possession of marijuana and speeding after a deputy found 11.2 grams of a leafy substance on his person while being stopped for going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.

On December 4th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Beck was patrolling on Vernon Creek Road when he spotted a tan pickup truck going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. The deputy turned his vehicle around and noticed the pickup truck kept going and went towards the dead-end of Mixon Road. The vehicle was attempting to turn back onto Vernon Creek Road when the deputy initiated a traffic stop. Deputy Beck approached the driver, Chad Lamothe, and asked for his license.

According to the report, Chad was asked to exit the vehicle and if there was anything inside of it. He stated no and that he only had a “little weed” on him. The deputy found 11.2 grams of a leafy substance on him, along with a grinder and rolling papers in his pocket. Chad was found to have an active condition of release for a domestic incident. After searching the vehicle, multiple open and unopened alcoholic beverages were located. The conditions of release stated Chad was not supposed to be in possession of alcohol or any controlled substances.

Chad Lamothe was arrested and charged with speeding, contempt of court, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. He was later released on a $5,500 bond.
