Driver charged after deputy witnesses swerving across multiple lanes with no headlights

22-year-old Cedric Crowder was charged with driving under the influence and driving without headlights after admitting to drinking four beers and performing poorly on field sobriety tests.

On December 6th, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Evans saw a blue Toyota Tacoma traveling west on Dover Road near North Liberty Road. Deputy Evans noted the headlights were not on and the vehicle was swerving across multiple lanes. He then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, but it took Cedric Crowder about a half-mile to come to a full stop in the median.

Deputy Evans approached and asked Crowder if he had anything to drink, to which Crowder initially stated he did not, but later said that he had four beers about an hour ago. Deputy Evans stated he could smell alcohol coming from Crowder and saw that Crowder’s eyes were “glossy and red.” He had Crowder perform a set of sobriety tests, of which Crowder performed poorly.

Cedric Crowder was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving without headlights. He was later released on a $1,500 bond.
